Whiskey Rebellion Festival

The Whiskey Rebellion Festival celebrates the heritage and unique character of the region by focusing on the historical significance of the Whiskey Rebellion, a history that is exclusive to western Pennsylvania and primarily Washington County. The festival honors the significant period of America’s early days through historic reenactments, period exhibitions and demonstrations, family fun, frontier art, heritage music and food, all the while shining a national spotlight on the city, county and region. Community-focused entertainment combines with nationally renowned artists to create a festival that acknowledges the past, celebrates the present and looks toward the future.

Whiskey Rebellion Festival

The Whiskey Rebellion Festival is held by the Bradford House Historical Association. The Whiskey Rebellion Festival honors the significant period of America’s early days through historical reenactments, period exhibitions and demonstrations, family fun, frontier art, heritage music, and food while shining a national spotlight on the city, county, and region. Community-focused entertainment combines nationally renowned artists to create a festival that acknowledges the past, celebrates the present, and look toward the future. The festival always is held the second weekend in July. The festival takes place in downtown Washington, Pa, with a footprint covering the Washington Financial parking lot at Wheeling Street, traveling down Main Street, and ending at Maiden Street. The main events take place on Saturday. The event kicks off with a history parade. The Bradford House, the Whiskey Rebellion Education and Visitor Center and the Meeting House are open for tours during the day on Saturday. And then Saturday concludes with a music headliner. The festival is comprised of: Local history group display tables Blue Eagle Tavern Food trucks Historic attraction tours Lil’ Rebels area Mercantile area Music Reenactors Street theatre Courthouse tours Profits go to the BHHA.

Hands on History Day Camp

An immersive experience into late 18th century living on the southwestern Pennsylvania frontier. Campers explore the 1790s through various activities, such as crafts, games, food, music, and lessons, tour the museums, examine artifacts, and dress in period clothing. Demonstrators and reenactors interact with the campers, sharing their knowledge of tools, trades, and lifestyle. The camp is for children who have completed grades 3, 4, 5 or 6.
